Looking forward to 2009

It has been forever since I last posted and I really have no excuses. Christmas went well although it was tiring. New Years was spent with Brian and Ericka (who else?) and was a ton of fun. Once the kids went to sleep and the boys finally came out of the man room we watched the ball drop then had some champagne :o).

Riley is getting so big I can't stand it. She has now started to roll over on her own and it's so cute. The only drawback is that when i put her in her bed she will roll over and wake herself up....then we have to go back to square one. A few nights ago I gave in and spoon fed her some cereal....she had no idea what to think of it, lol. The first bite ended up in her hair, on her nose, all over her fists (b/c of course she had to put her fists in her mouth!). Last night she had bananas and she LOVED those! She is also starting to sit up (with help of course). When you are holding her in a reclined position she just sits right up without assistance, she hates laying back. I am going meet a lady tomorrow whom I'm buying a bumbo seat with tray from, I think she'll like that a lot. My little girl is growing up so fast. I had a newborn in the ER the other day and he was bigger than Riley was at birth but I could honestly not picture her that size, it made me a little sad. No matter how hard I try to capture every moment I know I will miss some of her firsts when I'm at work and that breaks my heart.

On another note, I am having such a hard time recovering from giving birth. My back has been hurting me SO badly this past week. I had a HIDA scan done Tuesday and laying on the metal for 1.5 hours flat on my back with my arms above my head just fed into the pain and I honestly was limping for the first part of my work day that day. Everyone keeps telling me it takes a while to get back to normal but this is a little crazy. Brian has to take her from me when I'm playing with her on the floor just so I can stand up on my own, I can't sleep on my back without it locking up, and some mornings I will stand up and then just fall back onto the bed in pain :o(

Now for my new Years Resolution: SAVE MONEY!!!

With the economy in the condition it is in I am petrified. Now that both of us are finally back to work full time we have started up our strict budget again and while January is a little tight I am optimistic that we will be back to saving money soon. I have a confession....I am a cutter...of coupons that is! I went out and bought a binder and some baseball card sleeves and organized all of my coupons in order of how my grocery store is set up. I then went through all of the ads to see what was on sale and where. A lady I work with is a pro at all of this and says the trick is to not use your coupon unless it is on sale. This weeks finds: Meijer: a box of pizza rolls for $1..subtract coupon and I will get two boxes at 60 cents a piece, also at meijer I will get 2 tubs of huggies wet wipes for a total of $2 after sale and coupon. I really hope I can keep this up and get the hang of it. I find that I am much happier when I have all the bills paid with money left over.

Awwww I miss you guys! I'm so excited for your saving and coupon books. That totally inspired me... I think I might get one of those today. My boys seem to be on the mend (fingers crossed!) Maybe we can get together this weekend?

I am a coupon user too. I like the challenge of finding stuff for free or almost free.
I know exactly what you mean about Riley seeming so much bigger. Eli is acting more like a toddler than a baby and he is a huge boy still. He is just growing up way too fast.
I hope everything is ok with your back. I don't know if this helps or not but with Isaac my tailbone was crushed. My family dr said that it is pretty common to bruise or crush your tailbone during delivery. It took months before it didn't hurt me anymore.
